However, what's the limit? As a theater person, I can definitely be a pack rat. You never know when you may need something, and with tight budgets, hoarding can be VERY effective!
What kinds of hoarding habits do you all have? What kind do your theater companies have? Interested in your answers....

Hah! A subject much on my mind, this week, as well.
ReplyDeleteFlat Earth is about to celebrate its FIFTH BIRTHDAY (can you believe it?), and as part of the celebratory shindig we're throwing for the occasion we've been talking about holding a silent auction of some of our weirder, less-forseeably-reusable props and costume pieces. But how to determine what we won't need in the future (and will anyone else want it, anyway?) Meanwhile, another small company in our community is dissolving after its final show closes next week, and they're giving away a lot of their stash of bits and pieces -- a significant collection of which I've laid claim to, and don't really have space to store.
Such conundrums.

I just made this decision. Space for old clothes: Nonexistent. Out they go. Space for old props: Essential.
ReplyDeleteThe Penny Seats, having just completed our first show, have begun masterfully hoarding props, costumes and set pieces. Fortunately, they can join the Fortress Party collection in my sister's basement until the next show rolls around...
